And there comes those times you just have to endure..

...it was dark and the night was heavy.
From the balcony of the second floor he looked down
and i looked up and felt those eyes, urging me to come back.
I turned my back to him and walked out,
gulping back the tears that had formed in my eyes.
I didnt allow them to spill
and all i could say to myself was- "This is life,
has always been this way and shall always be".
One might think that they do not know but they know.
It was like a cold stone, no, a lot of cold stones dropping on my heart
and my heart went cold.

Caged

From the window of the caged cell the forlorn eyes look up.
Through the bar it sees the wings that soar
the expanse of the blue skies.
The flutter of wind it can feel in its bones
though the feet are firmly planted on the grounds.
Through the shrouds of grey it sees high hopes
of days of smiles and laughter abound.
A fear of uncertainty clouds its vision
as the grim reality strikes.
Green are fields beyond the walls
which had once touched the feet,
yet now within these dark cold walls
barren have turned the earth beneath.

On A Seashore In A Dark Night

The moon shining full and bright
The waves lapping against the shore on this dark night
And along the shore long I walk in the beaming moonlight
Glistening like diamonds on the waters deep
The roar of the waves, into the heart it seeps.
Such magical feel never before had I felt
The majesty of the sea that with the horizon melts.
Far it goes so far
And travels like horses for miles and miles
And caresses the foot of some shore unknown
So mystic and so alone..
Never do these eyes tire
To behold the unending sea- It’s like a delve into eternity
What message I wonder though, does it come to give
And thus they come and thus they leave
Always does it’s footsteps recedes
With a promise of return which it always keeps.

Some things shall always remain the same…

There were dreams and there still are- some broken, some still to come true and some impossible ones that have seen the light of the day. It’s amazing really-how we wait for things which shall never come; days that are ornamented with the blossoms of youth in the mind’s expansive universe; how days that are and will be are still lightened by the shadows of yesterday. New seeds of hope are sown everyday no matter how crushed they get. The baffling world travels on and so do I. Like the moon that ceaselessly shines every night , like the breeze that forever blows and the flowers that forever blossom, we all will continue to live on..always with old dreams and new hopes that everyday like the sun shines, we shall continue to live on. Centuries have passed. People come and go. Yet the world is same as ever. It’s really good to know that some things never change. When everything that was shall never again be, when everything that you love, change; it’s the only thing that gets us going, knowing that some things shall always remain the same.

Once in a while....

Miles and miles away
Somewhere lay, a half trodden path
Where a fresh breath of air lingers still
Miles it travel, the fragrance
And perfumes the senses
 once in a while.

Airplanes

Up she goes into the sky so high
Floating mid air, the world below passes by.
Foams of white clouds the vision-
A moment of majesty beyond a reason.
As a bird she flies
 Like a seagull soars
And touches the skies.
Enters she
Into a child’s fantasy
Castles made of white
Here’s a bunny
And there, shapes so funny
Breaks she into a laughter light.
Travels thus she, into far off lands
Stretched over rivers and lakes
and with the dawn, every morn
Into a land of dreams she awakes.

LONGING

(Published in Mahishamardini year 2012, the annual magazine of the G.U Campus' Puja Commitee)

 How much this heart desires
To tread the lanes
Of the place I call home.
Like a feather I fly
And with the wind I go
Crossing the meadow
 And the field
And the river and the hill,
The face of this unknown land I leave.
And from the distance I see
The familiar roads
The houses and the boats
And hear the singing of the breeze.
Brings it in the sound
Of laughter and joy abound
Of days that with golden are crowned.
Never have I ever wanted
Never have wished for a prayer
To be so granted
To rush to the bosom
Of my world, my home
When far away in this solitary land
My heart silently roams.
